Pray Israel

Praying The Gates of Jerusalem

“I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him ho curses you.”  Genesis 12:3

When God spoke these covenant words to Abraham, He was talking about the release of inheritance and destiny. We are also directed to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. When we pray through the gates of Jerusalem we are releasing inheritance and destiny for Israel and for those who bless her. Each Gate represents a part of this destiny. See Ps 122:2, 6

Jaffa Gate:

This gate is named for the City of Jaffa. It was originally known as Joppa. The road outside this gate led to this port city. It is the only gate on the western wall of the old city. Entering this gate leads one to Wailing Wall and the Temple Mount. The Wailing Wall is referred as a place of wailing because the Jews pray at this sight for the loss of the temple of David. The Jaffa Gate is also called the gate of David Shrine. The city of Jaffa is a historic gateway to Israel being the main seaport of Judea. It is located about 38 miles from Jerusalem. Today it is a suburb of Tel Aviv. It was used to bring in the cedars of Lebanon for Solomon’s Temple (2 Chron. 2). It is the place the prophet Jonah embarked for Tarshish (Jonah 1:3). During the crusades it was considered a stronghold for the kingdom of Jerusalem. The apostle Peter resurrected the widow Tabitha (Dorcas) at this city. (Acts 9:36-42). It was captured by Saladin in 1187 and surrendered to King Richard the Lionheart in 1192.

This gate is the gathering place for much prayer regarding restoration of worship and destiny by Jews. We have the blessed promise that God is going to restore the “Tabernacle of David” in the last days (Acts 15:16,17) God has an answer for those who wail at this gate. Here is the promise:
“After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David which has fallen down. I will rebuild its ruins, And I will set it up, So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, Says the Lord who does all these things,”

Pray through the Jaffa Gate: Let’s join with our Jewish brothers and sisters in crying out to God for the restoration of the Tabernacle of David. Let’s pray for a new release of Davidic Worship to break out in Israel and the rest of the world that God will turn our mourning into dancing! Lets pray for a release of prophets like Jonah who will preach the righteousness of God to Gentile nations. Let’s pray for a new release of healing like the Apostle Peter released for the widow to come forth through this gate to Israel and to the nations who bless her.

Praying The Gates of Jerusalem:

“Our Feet have been standing within your gates. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May they prosper who love you.” Psalms 122:6  To stand in the gates (pray in the gates) is to release inheritance and destiny. This results in the prospering of those who pray in the gates along with the prospering of Israel. See Ps 128:5; 137:5-6; 147:2,3, 11-13; Ps 89:34-37; Ps 51:18,19
